Travel to Turkey (for a couple of hours)

 by Paula Disbrowe

Part of the appeal of a massage, or any spa treatment, is the opportunity to momentarily transcend the frenetic pace of our daily lives. An herb-scented body scrub or eucalyptus steam room tap into the same yearnings that find many of us at our desks, dreaming of aquamarine beaches and exotic flavors and blossoms. The trouble is, most of these fantasies involve purchasing an international ticket and wrangling for time off. This month there’s an easy way to get a dose of exotic escape without finding your passport.

Trunk Show N’ Tell: Christina Kim at By George

by Emma Banks

Christina Kim knows the worth of each and every garment she designs, and it shows. Her aesthetic is centered on this: a deep sense of appreciation for that which is finite, largely due to her modest upbringing in Korea. When Christina moved to the U.S. and started her brand, Dosa, in 1984, her life mantra became her business model: less is more.

These days, Christina calls Los Angeles home. As for Austin? “Texans are the most friendly people you’ll ever meet,” She says. “It’s really nice to come to a place where you feel really welcomed.”

We couldn’t agree more.
